semester 1 reflection

Quality of Work

My quality of work was overall decent but could be improved. The quality of the pictures specifically could be improved by stepping outside of my comfort zone, try new things, and to see different options and choose the best one. My subjects I feel were unique and worked well with the assignment. For the most part they all tied in well with the expectations while also being creative. At some points I will admit I have cut some corners and said "good enough" but this semester I will be more proactive on providing higher quality of the work. There are a few assignments where I have a good number for index prints and some I could have taken more shots. I understand the importance and relevance of index prints so I will try to think harder and be more open minded with what and how I take pictures. I tend to go with my first one or two ideas and if I try and think of more ways of going about an assignment, I may have better ideas I wouldn't have thought about before.

Effort

My effort in actively taking pictures is okay at best, I need to improve on taking more pictures, even if they're not for this class. I feel if taking more personal or creative pictures will give me more motivation and inspiration needed to improve in this class. I usually take pictures in my neighborhood or house, making it convenient most of the time. Usually I have an idea, then I figure out where I can shoot. I like to plan especially with projects. I like to plan where and when I can go out and shoot pictures because it helps me stay focused so Im not worried about if Ill have the project completed on time. 

Participation

I am always on time for class and prepared 9 times out of 10. When assigned a project, I will brainstorm ideas and plan it out. Once I know what Im doing, I will work during class as much as possible so I don't have to worry about it at home. I like to work independently but when I don't know how to make an adjustment or how to work photoshop, I will ask my friends.

Improvement

I dont really know what my style is, I kind of just shoot what I feel fits the assignment and that I will enjoy. I need to improve on my skills with photoshop and the overall computer as I have not used photoshop before and I do not own apple. I am better than I was but I can improve much more. I feel more confident with my ideas and how to use my camera more than I did before. I now understand different settings for my camera that have proven useful in projects. 

Adjustment

This semester I will change how I manage my time, the effort I put forth and try new techniques to improve my overall work. 

Suggested Assignment

I would like to have more personal assignments (maybe not share them for the class) and more shooting assignments. I like going out and shooting cool and fun pictures so if we can have more assignments like those, awesome!
